Basher Makes Butter

In this short film, Basher Bacon introduces butter making to a young audience using equipment readily available in the home.

Note: The film includes a short folk tale (begins at 3 mins 15 sec) which may not be suitable for younger (under 8) children, so parents or guardians may wish to preview the piece.

This event was part of Cruinniú na nÓg on Saturday June 13 2020. You can see more of Basher at the Munster Literature Centre’s YouTube channel.

Junior Certificate Worksheets

The worksheets are designed to meet the specific needs of the post-primary sector. Integral to the project was the desire to integrate the work of the classroom with the facilities of a museum; to alter the perception of the museum as separate from the normal learning process of the student.

As part of the programme, three worksheets were developed; Food in Early IrelandThe Atlantic Age and From Farm to Factory, each designed to address aspects of the Junior Certificate Curriculum.

The choice of PDF and MS Word formats allows the teacher to download the worksheet as prepared or edit the worksheet to suit a specific class group. This project has been supported by the Heritage Council.
